Flaming Lips Entry # 960 (from Bridesmaids)

Entry # 960

From the movie The Bridesmaids (2011)

Megan: Nice hit! Alright, am glad to see you have a little bit of spark in you. I knew that Annie was in there somewhere. I think… I think you’re ready now to hear a little story about a girl; a girl named Megan. A girl named Megan who did not have a very good time in high school. … I’m referring to myself when I say Megan, it’s me Megan.

Annie: I know.

Megan: And I know you look at me and think ‘Boy, she must have breezed through high school!’ Not the case Annie.

Annie: No.

Megan: No! This (pointing to herself) was not easy going up and down the halls. Ok? They used to blow me up. They threw firecrackers at my head. Firecrackers! I mean, literally. I'm not saying that figuratively. I got firecrackers thrown at my head. They called me ‘a freak’. Do you think I let that break me? Do you think I went home  to my mommy crying, ‘I don’t have any friends. Megan does not have any friends’.? No I did not! You know what I did? I pulled myself up. I studied really hard. I read every book in the library. And now, I work for the government and I have the highest possible security clearance. Don’t repeat that!

Annie: I won’t.

Megan: I can’t protect you. I know where all the nukes are and I know the codes.

Annie: (shocked) I won’t tell anybody.

Megan: You would be amazed! a lot of shopping malls! Don’t repeat that!

Annie: I won’t.

Megan: I have six houses. I bought an 18-wheeler a couple of months ago just because I could. Ok, you lost Lillian and you got another bestfriend sitting in front of you if you’d notice Megan. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. I do not associate with people who blame the world for their problems, coz’ you’re your problem, Annie; and you’re also your solution.

Annie is played by Kristen Wiig and Megan by Melissa McCarthy.

Now fight.”

“And finally this question:
The mystery of whose story it will be…
Of who draws the curtain?
Who is it that chooses our steps in the dance?
Who drives us mad, lashes us with whips…
And crowns us with victory when we survive the impossible?
Who is it that does all these things?
Who honors those we love with the very life we live?
Who sends monsters to kill us and at the same time sings that we’ll never die?
Who teaches us what’s real and how to laugh at our lies?
Who decides why we live and what we’ll die for to defend?
Who chains us?
And who holds the key to set us free?
It’s you.
You have all the weapons you need.
Now fight!”

Dave and Grace - Episode 3

The Lives of Dave and Grace
Episode 3

Photo from Bryce Kiguchi.
He had been talking about this song he wanted her to hear. She didn’t have the time or more like they didn’t have a chance to actually listen to it until that night he brought her home after a tiring trip to places she had never been to. He wouldn’t let this day end without her hearing it. He grabbed her laptop and searched for it.

He played it.

She was in awe and secretly catching her breath but she couldn’t stop the tears that fell from her eyes as if they have a mind of their own. So she laid on his lap and cried like a baby with thoughts of sadness filling her. She knew it’s going to be the song she’s gonna listen to when all these end.

A day before her last day, they went out to eat. There was an unbearable silence when his Ipod started playing this song.

“Will we ever see each other again?”

“Will there be an ‘after’ after this?”

“How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?”

“Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?”

She heard the word she wanted to hear from him. This isn't the first time he said it but it always felt like it was.

"Stay", he said while keeping his eyes glued to the road which worked to her advantage.

She knew she probably couldn't say 'No' to him. She didn't say anything. At least not aloud. "I want to. I wish I could."

Just the thought of it brings unexplainable combination of acceptance and resistance. They both knew it could be the last but somehow somewhere in that acceptance is a little piece of resistance so powerful that it could change everything if they were just willing to give it a chance.

But they knew better. “Some of the best moments in life may not be meant to be forever but they can be if we choose to keep them in our hearts no matter the ending”, she thought.

It was a song that brings her back to the memory of him and their journey closer to God whether or not they end up together.

Find Me Here
Speak To Me
I want to feel you
I need to hear you
You are the light
That's leading me
To the place where I find peace again.

You are the strength that keeps me walking.
You are the hope that keeps me trusting.
You are the light to my soul.
You are my purpose...you're everything.

How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?

You calm the storms, and you give me rest.
You hold me in your hands, you won't let me fall.
You steal my heart, and you take my breath away.
Would you take me in? Take me deeper now?

How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?
And how can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?

Cause you're all I want, you’re all I need
You're everything, everything
You're all I want your all I need
You're everything, everything.
You're all I want you're all I need.
You're everything, everything
You're all I want you're all I need, you're everything, everything.

And How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?
How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?

How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?
Would you tell me how could it be any better than this?
